THE VELAZQUEZ

We have been entirely pleased with our experience in building our John Houston home. Each team member we worked closely with, exuded compassion, professionalism, and confidence. They were all so attentive to our specific needs throughout the entire process. Not only does the John Houston team put God first, but they continuously serve our community.

It was April of 2012 when got the news we were expecting our first child. At the time, we were living in our home we had purchased in Desoto. Shortly after we purchased the home we began to encounter instances where we felt safety was an issue for us. My husband, Luis, worked late nights and left every night with a feeling of unease. We both knew that that home would not be a place where we would raise our children. Being a family of faith, the first thing we did was pray. We prayed for God to give us the wisdom to make the right choices and for the right opportunity to come our way. We knew we wanted to either move back to Ovilla or Midlothian closer to family. After searching for homes, we found that nothing seemed to be the right fit for us. We had specific requirements on our next home as this would be the home we stayed in long term. We were looking for our dream home.
Soon after, we had the idea to build so we started researching builders. Neither of us had experience on building a home and were both uneasy since we wanted to get into a new home quickly. We started our research by driving around looking at newer developed communities. Ultimately, John Houston was the builder we fell in love with. We met Rob Poole, our sales agent, who took the time to explain the entire building process. Since we were still in our current home, Rob offered help from their real estate team to help us sell our home. Choosing to use their services and building with John Houston, allowed for no service fees. Michelle Ozymy, our agent, listed our home and on that very same day we had three offers! Still at the time we debated on whether we wanted to build, so we met up with Rob one more time to discuss options with our budget. He showed us an inventory home in Texanna Ranch that was about to break ground in a few weeks. Since it was an inventory home, it cut a few months out of the building process. We felt that God had His hands all over this perfect opportunity and we later signed the papers to make it our home. Even though the home was already in process, we were able to add some of the specific touches we wanted. The outcome was beyond our expectations. We had truly just built our dream home!
